Oxbow Lebach, one of this century's greatest artists, recently reawakened the world with yet another of his timely masterpieces, Nude Standing. Nude Standing is not only a tribute to the cool starkness of modern intellectual life, but a testimony to the spiritual solitude experienced by today's prodigal artists. It unambiguously stands witness to the philosophical duress of our blighted intelligentia, yet bears a lilliputian, though poignant, suggestion of the fragility of our bondage. Perhaps Lebach's boldest work thus far, Nude Standing delivers a declaration--nay, a summons--that having been brought forth by the hand of a lesser talent might well have been construed as misanthropy.
